Eeek! Well, it doesn't surprise me...but, I also tend to not worry about bacteria when I feed my dogs seeing as they eat in pretty dirty conditions in the wild. That said, it seems the real concern is to US...preparing the meat for them...lol now I wonder if I should wear rubber gloves. I generally am not a germaphobe at all but come on grocery store people, wash your damn hands and wear the damn goves!!

Unfortunately the meat industry is reaping what they sewed when they started adding antibiotics to cattle feed decades ago. I don't think there's a reason to panic on feeding our dogs raw, but use common sense for yourself and wash your hands with soap and water after handling raw meat. Which we all are probably doing anyway. Our dogs have very strong stomach acid, somewhere I read it is 10 times the potency of human stomach acid, and they also have a short gut transit time so (unlike humans) the food they eat doesn't sit around in their systems long enough to cause a problem, and after passing through that stomach acid, there's probably not much bacteria left anyway. I will continue to feed raw and recommend it as usual.

It said the risk is contaminated meat being handled by people with open sores...the risk isn't necessarily to do with ingesting. Though really I'd think ingesting it wouldn't be great either? I'm thinking human POV...I know canine digestive systems are hard on bacterias so I don't worry about them so much.

Scary!!
One of my labs picked up MRSA after a stay at the vets, he was in a terrible state and we very nearly lost him. It was not a pretty sight (think open, weeping sores - SO painful for him!) and he still has the scars now, poor boy!

I think that most of us are pretty into hygiene with raw I use antibacterial soap immediately after I've touched it and use hibiscrub on my floors even tho I feed on towels!
The other way I see it is the dogs walk on the floor outside pretty sure there is worse than mrsa out there

Dogs don't wear shoes. They don't wash their hands. They lick their butts. Their systems are just different than ours. There is really no comparison.
