So we had our appointment on Friday.
It went quite well and the woman was really nice.
We are to start by changing things around here like less lap time, more excersise and for Jamie to start to feed the dogs aswell as me.
She got me to leave the room so she could see for herself how Dillon reacts and said he is a very needy wee dog, but he is not destructive with the separation anxiety, which i knew. She tried to get him to lay down for a treat but he wouldnt do it no matter how long she tried. lol
He sat no problem, as always
She said it can be harder with such small dogs as compared to larger cause of the leg size...hmmm anyhow she said to keep at that at home, and to teach more tricks in a seperate room from the girls with treats.
They do distract him and jump up for treats etc...
I havent to start with actually leaving him yet though for even very short periods till i do this other stuff.
I have noticed though that since she said to not allow him on my lap as much he is a little better at staying with the girls on the sofa while i pop to the kitchen or toilet.
Jamie had pointed out that when i am going for a ciggy i announce it.
I do talk to the dogs a lot. lol anyway i was told i am warning Dillon in advance that i wiill be leaving, so i have stopped the cutesy talk about how he is to stay while i go, i didnt realise i did it and i have noticed if i just slowly get up, potter about the livingroom first, then walk out the door he doesnt react.
He will still come with me now and then, but it isnt as much.
I pointed out that Jamie shouts at the dogs when they bark which is basically barking back and was always just opening the door so Dillon could get to me to stop him barking.
She kinda took his side and said well it can get annoying so i dont blame him, especially since he works nights.
Yeah, but we are BOTH supposed to do this not just me!!
He hindered me in training by doing that.
I know he was worried about the neighbours in that flat in Glasgow, but he still moans in the new place so that has to stop!
Anyhow instead of saying quiet when Dillon demands my attention i have to just ignore till he gets bored.
Still say quiet when he barks at noises or dogs of course.
I have also to reintroduce the crate, like sometimes give him his dinner in it, or a chew etc...
So she is sending me an email on Monday about everything we discussed and then will be doing follow up calls and i suppose going on to the leaving part.
She did say i can call her anytime if i have questions, and if i do want to see her again it would be less expensive.
I probably will want to take him back in.
Jamie couldnt be bothered feeding the dogs Friday or Sat but fed them their breakfast this morning.
I can see he will do as he pleases.
He was all sweetness and light in that office, but when it actually comes down to it he has to be in the mood to help out.
I have told him we are going out shortly for a walk, then later to pets at home.
Obviously during the week i will do the excersise alone but at weekends i would like some company.
I dont think that's a lot to ask.
So that's it so far.
It will be a slow process, but hopefully this helps Dillon and i can one day go somewhere without him.
