Aw, I'm sorry you & Lo have been having to deal with this. Sounds like such an ordeal!! I hope the med works & she doesn't get ill after being taken off. How stressful in the mean time wondering...
I'll keep sending positive thoughts your way & fingers crossed for the best!

Kristi-
Thank you SO much for taking the time to share the products you use with me. Definitely a great starting point for figuring out what I should be starting with. :-)
She has been on Ziwi for around a year, and before that was on a potato based kibble, I'm not sure if it had any or many other grains in it.
I read that the condition is often brought on by vaccinations. However Lo hasn't had anything since her last rabies vaccine which is actually almost due again as it was almost 3 years ago. We're going to opt for titers instead I think.
Rebhhh-
Thank you for sharing your experience with me. Makes me feel like we're less "on our own" :-) I'm terribly sorry to hear your girl isn't improving yet on the medication. When I was having to trick Lo into taking her pill I was usually able to get her to take it with a little BeechNut turkey & broth baby food. It is reasonably priced at Fred Meyer, maybe that would make it easier on you both? I truly hope she starts feeling better. I know what you're going through, let me know if you want to talk.
Sarah & Heather-
I appreciate the well wishes. I'm still learning more about it and feel much better having talked about it and sorting out where we need to go next in our plan. :-) Thank you for your kind words!

wow, what an ordeal. How scary. I would DEFINITELY not give Lo any more vaccinations. You can get an exemption for sure considering her immune status. Vaccines depress the immune system, that's the LAST thing she needs!
I agree with heavy doses of fish oil (to bowel tolerance) and also vitamin C and the glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM. HA is getting a good look (Hyaluronic acid) and started out in race horses with joint problems. Definitely look into HA. I would probably buy the human brand Baxyl and start out with 1-2 ml twice a day. I think you will definitely see some good improvement using that regimen.

Darcie you should be able to just get an exemption from rabies for her I'd think since she has been diagnosed with an immune disease?

Thank you for your comments. I will definitely be looking into getting an exemption for vaccinations for her. I'm not too hot on the idea anyway, so after this I'm down right terrified to do it again!
