How sad to see breeeders selling one eyed Chihuahuas for hundreds and Chihuashuas with known patella luxation ... why not pass them onto rescue? Okay they will forfeit thier £££'s but for heavens sake, why not think about their dog's welfare? Very sad

Well what makes you think the breeder isn't capable of placing the dog themselves? Asking money for a dog doesn't necessarily make a person greedy, if they were asking thousands I'd be shocked but a few hundred dollars doesn't necessarily shock or bother me.

I would NEVER give a pup to a rescue, as its breeder it's MY job to find a home for it and if not be the home for it,...breeding and giving defunct pups to rescues is unethical.

I'd much rather see a dog with a problem be rehomed to someone that is willing to care for the dog rather than have someone just drop it off at a rescue??
I tell ya, I may be terrible for breeding my pet but Mari's boys are MY RESPONSIBILITIES for the rest of their lives. Their owners were made very clear that if for ANY reason AT ALL they needed to "get rid of" them they'd be brought back to me. No questions asked! Before I even agreed to sell them to these families they had to agree to certain terms. I WILL NOT be responsible for any shelter dogs period! They are also both neutered. (As per our contract)
I am sorry if you had some bad experiences w/certain breeders & just have a negative view on breeders in general. There really are some great ones out there....MANY who are an active part of rescuing themselves!
Back to the topic...I'd rather see these "ads" selling dogs for a few hundred dollars rather than for "free". At least then you know you are getting rid of the people who are looking for free/cheap dogs for their mill. Just a thought...

I wouldn't give a pup with a defect to rescue either. Thousands takes the biscuits but I wouldn't give a dog away I want to know this person can afford to look after my puppy and if they can't pay enough to cover vaccs etc they ain't getting the dog.
One of leilanis litter mates had a funny tail so the breeder gave her to the lady and mad her donate to the chi rescue as her fee.

This is EXACTLY why amateurs with unhealthy, unregistered dogs should not be breeding.
