I gave Lion a dehydrated duck foot to chew on and noticed he was walking around with it hanging from his mouth. I went to grab it from him and found that it was stuck! He growled and whined when I tried to gently pull it... I didn't want to get the scissors that close to his face so I just tried to feel around to see where it was stuck with no luck. I tried twisting it, etc but it just wouldn't come out! I was about to give up and call the vet because Lion was starting to panic ( he was trying to swallow the whole thing because it wouldn't come out of his mouth and it was hurting him) when it just came loose. Thank goodness! It must have been wrapped around one of his back teeth or something.
I just bought a 25 pack of duck feet and now I don't want to give him another.. Ugh.

I would sit and hold It? We've had similar problems with some Bones and daisy i just try to keep her calm so we can dislodge it
Doesn't help that your heart is in your throat though

Glad you got it out. I had that same thing happen with Roo one time with a bully stick. A strand from the bully stick somehow got wound around or caught in between one of her back teeth and she started freaking out and crying/screeching. Of course I acted calm so as not to scare her, but man I was freaking out inside. In her case it was easiest to just cut the strand with a scissors to release the bully stick. It took awhile to get the stringy piece off her tooth though. It really got wrapped in there somehow. I think it was just a freak thing. They get bullies weekly and it's the only time it's ever happened.

Yeah, duck feet are his favorite treat so I would hate to stop giving them! They get gummy and stringy like bully sticks do so I can see how it would get caught. I was going to try and cut it out, but the whole thing was in his mouth and I didn't want scissors that close to his face. I am just glad I got it out without hurting him... He had a little blood in his mouth after so it must have really been jammed in there! Poor guy

Poor Lion! I would be scared too! I've never had a duck foot get stuck in Brody's teeth. But I can see where it might happen. Have you tried fresh chicken feet? Those are Brody's FAVORITE. They are more pliable than the dehydrated treats, so I think they'd be less likely to get stuck between a tooth. They sure are grotesque looking though. Perfect for Halloween!

Or you can see if your grocery store will order them for you? They are cheap. People eat them (ewwwwww) or use them to flavor stock.
