I have had some wonderful mongrels over the years - the dogs home is full of them too. Accidental matings and strays mating has and will always happen.
Plus we got today's 'pedigree' dogs from cross breeding other dogs.
I agree with you about unethical breeding, cruel breeding, breeding in medical faults etc, over-breeding etc - anything that works against the health of the animal but if it doesn't harm the animal I don't agree.
Our mongrels lived long happy lives free of illness right until the end of their lives.

I think that todays mongrels are different to mongrels of the past though- in the past they were mostly accidental matings or matings from dogs allowed to roam and wouldn't really sell for alot of money as they carried no prestiege. Now people breed mongrels so they can give them a made up name like Chorkie or Cavachon, Cockerpoo etc etc and people pay more for them than decent breeders pay for petted out pedigree dogs, because they believe that they are getting something "designer" or "unique" or that they will get the best of both breeds. Both my mongrel boys are fraught with health problems, I don't think we can assume that mongrels are healtheir.

I'm not saying that Hollie - I'm just saying you can't assume cross breeds will inherit medical problems.
I agree on all unethical breeding too - anyone trying to make a fast buck from an animal is wrong as is anyone breeding and causing medical problems but I just don't think all cross breeds should be damned.

That's not what I meant what I meant with all breeds come with associated health problems like LP in chis etc but breeding of twit or more breeds you can inherit the illnesses from all the breeds involved and I therefore think that the relevant health tests for both parents should be taken out.

I just don't like cross breeding on purpose as they aren't improving a breed.

my cousin has some Aylestone Olde Tyme Bulldogs shes shows and breeds, i think they are kinda like a labradoodle, technically a cross breed but on its way to becoming accepted by the KC? they are quite a old breed they had Grehounds crossed into them for speed and they dont have the health problems of the British bulldog.

Aylestones aren't true to the old breed in my opinion but yeah for olde tymes there's many specialty shows & breed clubs!
