Tracy yep it foams up. If you brush and then look, you can see it all foaming along the gumline. I have never seen their gums look as healthy as they do since I started. Some people dilute the 3% hydrogen peroxide 1 part water to 1 part hydrogen peroxide but I've never done so and it seems most effective 'straight up'. I thought the dogs would be offended by the taste but they don't seem too phased.

Did you try the peroxide yet Paula? Yeah, the dog toothpaste seems to get way deep down in the tooth brushes and then harden. It accumulates pretty quickly even if you are rinsing them. The peroxide loosens it overnight and it's gone by the next time I want to brush their teeth. And, it kills and germs on their tooth brushes. I also love that the peroxide really gets up under their gums and cleans. My dog's mouths all are so healthy :-D I did try it and it's been working great! Thanks Kristi. I know you mentioned not rinsing it off before brushing but I'm so afraid it might bother Pip's tummy so I have been rinsing it off both of them before using. Do you think it's pretty gentle if they consume a small amount? Paula are you using a regular dog toothpaste? I use Petzlife gel to brush with and have never had any residue at all stay in the bristles. Maybe you could try that? Oh yes, I always use a toothpaste for dogs, the CET ones is what I use. I have used the gel when brushing but boy do they ever hate the taste of the Petzlife. Roo always screws up her face. lol. I mainly use the toothpaste now.

I haven't had any issue w/ not rinsing and I have two with sensitive tummies - I just flick the extra off back into the cup before using. It does a lot to clean under the gum. I guess you could try a 50/50 solution and go from there?

I'll give the half and half a go, I think. They could use some under the gum cleaning, especially Roo. I really don't want them to get a dental again, but even though Pip's teeth look very clean outwardly, his breath just isn't very good. I feel like there must be tartar gunk hiding in there somewhere. It's frustrating.
I'm sure with feeding raw it's not an issue for many of you, but I have never had dogs with such teeth issues before. I swear if I don't brush daily, or at least every other day, their teeth will go downhill pretty quickly. I'm going to start giving bullies more often and maybe order those antlers and see if they'll use them.

I leave their tooth brushes sitting in hydrogen peroxide after I've rinsed them and they never seem to get build up They wear out long before they get build up...but that said, they used to get gunky too before the hydrogen peroxide. That might work? I don't rinse them before adding toothpaste and brushing, either. The hydrogen peroxide helps clean up under the gum line. Kristi - how often do you change the peroxide solution?
