Thought it would be good to take you through raw weaning pups

March 30th 2012
The boys are 3.5 weeks old. I was planning on waiting a little later but this morning when I went to let Lotus out they tried to nom on my hand so figured no time like the present.

The boys have been wormed for the last 2 days. Today is the 3rd day, we have had no upset stomachs so I am confident that I'd they show interest today tomorrow should be ok. All puppies have round worm eggs, they lay dormant in all bitches and pregnancy hormones wake these up and they are passed through the milk. I'm not one for worming my adults, however their dam was wormed from day 40 to 2 days post whelping with panacure 10% and again at 3 weeks. Normally you start at 2 weeks every fortnight until 8 weeks but because of unexpected circumstances I've left it a little later..

Anyway back to weaning...

This morning I put a raw chicken wing down for the boys to 'play' with, I say play but they don't play yet. Barry took to it straight away trying to suck bits of meat off, Harry took a little encouragement but soon got there... I think they are ready for the raw weaning paste tomorrow.

So cute Sarah!!! You can tell they recognize it as food. They just aren't sure how to get it off there yet. Absolutely precious. They are really growing and look so stout and healthy. I'm thrilled with them and I love their colors and those itty bitty ears! They are just toooooooo cute.

I can't wait for their ears to grow!! Barry's are quite big already and they have super thick coats.

I will video again tomorrow. They are doing well with their toilet training too. Barry did a poo all on his own today

Day one of real food. We are using a weaning paste which is just very finely ground chicken & bone we will eventually work up to a variety of pre mades and chunks of meat and rmbs. The boys will get bones recreationally as they are teething and frankly I like the wires in my house to stay intact.

Barry took straight to it, Harry needed some encouragement. He was a bit shakey because it's all very new and they get tired very easily still. Will report on poos as I see them.

Very cool Sarah! Why am I not surprised that Barry went straight for the weaning paste? LOL They're both adorable...and getting so fluffy already. Sweet boys...

Both boys have pooed. We had a small firm
Poo from Harry and a big huge firm poo from Barry but I think he's just a bit of a fat pig really.
They had 2 meals today and will have 2 tomorrow. They only eat like maybe 1/4 of a teaspoon not even that much. Bless them
