Well done! I use to use a grinder until I really hurt my daisy so in a wuss now and clip but daisy needs grinding I don't use my grinder anymore either.. I ripped a chunk of Lion's tail out with it! I felt so bad, I can't bring myself to use it anymore.

That's so scary to hear about the grinder accidents! I've been getting Juliet's clipped and ground at the groomer's because it takes ages for me to do her nails. If I take her somewhere else she holds perfectly still and it hardly costs anything. Now I'm going to be watching like a hawk hah! The groomer did mention accidents with dog's tongues before! Agh!

I've got a problem with Harry now, too. The first few times with the Dremel were fine... I had the speed so slow that I could hold my finger on it without a problem, but the little so-and-so still managed to wriggle suddenly and catch his ear fur in it :-( He yelped when it pulled out a great chunk of fur and I've never been able to get it near him again.
So I reverted back to using clippers, and acted very confident with him, but it's verrrry slow going, and he just wriggles soooo much. Then I managed to 'quick', not one, but two, claws one after the other and although he didn't seem to be too bothered (they weren't cut too far back) he's really, really hard to do now. The bleeding was hideous and I didn't have the styptic powder at the time, so now I avoid it until I can't any more, 'cos we're both wary of it! Even with hubby holding him, he still wriggles too rapidly for me to cut safely. We've resorted to hubby tempting him with a treat to distract him, but it takes ages to get through all the claws, by the time I've pulled the fur between toes out of the way. It would definitely be a bit easier without all the dangly fur I think...

Dang it sounds like long coats and grinders don't mix well!! I wonder if you could get a pair of old hose and put it over the paw and poke the claws out that way and then clip or dremel?

U just reminded me it's nail day again every Monday lol I have some styptic powder now Sarah, although it's more of a 'blob'... it oxidizes really easily! :-( I asked the vet to trim them when we were there yesterday, and he looked at them and said they didn't need doing. I disagree... it's my skin and clothing that Harry's nails are catching on, and it's been 5 or 6 weeks since I last did them!

I wonder if you could get a pair of old hose and put it over the paw and poke the claws out that way and then clip or dremel? That sounds like a great idea Tracy... I'll def give that a go. Maybe I can attach a 'treat' (a small piece of ZP!) higher up, so that he's busy with that while I have a go at the sharp end, lol! :-)
