I'm going to apologize in advance in case what I'm about to suggest is considered an absolute no-no. I genuinely don't know! The thing is, I find the whole subject of genetics fascinating (regardless of species!) and I know that some of our Chis share ancestors here and there. I thought that if we had a section where we uploaded scans of our Chi's pedigrees we'd be able to see the relationships between them, and maybe have fun discussing their heritage and genetic similarities etc. And it might even be useful for anyone wondering if they should breed from their dogs, to get an opinion from some of the more experienced here. Thing is… knowing how… um… sensitive the dog world can be, would being open about and sharing pedigrees be acceptable, or are they supposed to be secret? Any thoughts? (Ducking and hiding... )

I think it's a grand idea!!! If Brody had a pedigree, I'd love to look at it. (He is an unregistered pet).

I'm in two minds I would rather not have a section that separates pedigree dogs from non pedigree. However I see nothing wrong with starting a thread with ancestors and pics if you have them and going from there

Oh, I didn't mean it to be an elitist thing of those with pedigrees vs those without... that didn't even occur to me to be honest, Sarah. I just thought it might be useful sitting alongside the showing and conformation section.

I know but it could easily be construed to be like that! I think a thread itself would suffice but not a section. I'm happy to sticky it if it becomes a popular thread

Stick it in the showing and confirmation bit

I think its a fun idea too! Especially for you UK owners as I bet youll have some chis in common, I dont expect thered be much overlap with us though.
