Oh dear Oakley! Made me chuckle though because you know that back tooth of Mari's you'd asked about (because the vet wouldn't pull Oakleys?)....well as it would be....cleaning up after pups takes a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge toll on teeth. The one Mari had left in the back got really wiggley & I just had to pull it. How do you even dare to pull them Kristi? What do you use...just your fingers? They're hard to grip sometimes....with Mari's I did with some gauze but it was still difficult. Maya had a lower baby canine left that was wiggley but it had grown so I couldn't pull it (or maybe I didn't dare pull hard enough?). Luckily when the girls were in a little scrap it came out. LOL It's good to know about them resetting.... Hopefully Oakley is done loosing baby teeth! She won't have any left if she keeps this up though! I just...pull 'em! Usually I can get them between two nails (I keep my nails really short) and wiggle real good until I can "pop" what's left of any root, and then its just getting a good enough hold to yank it out. Toilet paper seems to stick to teeth so I use that. Guess I don't let them get away with squealing, and whether it hurts them or not, spending $350 per pup to get remaining baby teeth pulled isn't appealing. I wiggle ALL the teeth in their mouths and I don't let them suggest otherwise as an option ha ha. Now they just know--mom's in my mouth, the sooner I stop being naughty, the sooner this is over. That is great Mari's tooth finally came out!! What did cleaning up after the pups do to her teeth? Did it hurt them?

You know whats funny? Kiki had her baby canines in when her adults came in and they were stuck fast in there, absolutely solid. Then out of no where (I think maybe the Ostrich?) one side has got really wobbly. I really want it to come out now because its making her gum red I'm scared its going to get infected but she won't let me do more than wobble it so I've been giving her chews to help loosen it up more! I hate retained canines---those are the absolute worst. Stubborn, rotten little teeth that refuse to come out Trigger had 2 they didn't pull at his neuter (friggin idiots), that took me months and months to get out, they kept re-setting in his mouth and I'd have to start all over again. I coulda killed the vet. I had the vet pull one of Brody's baby teeth on the bottom. He had two and they were in front of the bottom row, kind of on the sides by the canines. One is out of the way and well seated, the other one got really loose. I wiggled it and worked on it and his gum got inflamed and then the tooth died but wouldn't come out. Everytime I tried to yank it - he screeched, so I backed off.
When he went to the vet a couple weeks ago for titers and bloodwork, I told the vet to pull it. No sedation, just give him a local and do it. So he did and pop - out it came - but it had a LONG root on it. I can take a picture. It's like as long as a dime. He said if I would have left it in, it likely would have abscessed.
It's been a couple weeks and you can't even tell where it was. And yes, it was the source of occasional nasty breath! He yawns in my face now and I can't smell anything at all. Its amazing how long the roots to some of their teeth are, like if you've had to have any of them pulled, yikes gee whiz! I really do think our poor wee chis have it pretty rough as far as teeth goes, but man, some other of the snubbed nose breeds have it sooo much more rough!

I think the loose one is definitely dying off, just hope it'll come out and won't require a vet visit lol

Oh stimulating/cleaning up after pups makes their teeth DISGUSTING!! It didn't "hurt" her teeth per say but Mari's teeth are finally now not getting yellow junk on her teeth constantly and her breath is finally not smelling like crap. (not literally like crap--but really gross none the less) That tooth of hers was really well seated until after she had the pups when it all of a sudden got loose & I had to finally yank it.
Granted your brushing routine may help but even RMB's didn't help in Mari's case. I even brushed occasionally (haven't really brushed since doing raw...just once in a while) and the next day they'd be covered again. It was really really nasty.....
