I didn't realize Gambit was like that Lucy, I just assumed because he lived with other dogs (albeit Chis) that he would be fine. Nope, not at all. In fact he's only just accepted Chaos. I've tried everything with him but its just his nature. He's ALWAYS been scared and nervous with other dogs. At best, if I see a dog coming, I can get him to sit if I have a treat in my hand and I make him ignore the dog (if the dogs on a leash, if it walks over, all hell breaks loose) and reward him once its past. Most times though he will just start barking once he sees the dog walking in our direction. IF the dog comes near him, he'll go nuts like he's being killed, which then starts Kiki off with her protection-security detail and before you know it, I'm being judged for have "yappy little chi's". So yes, it sounds like Harry is miles better than Gambit and I bet with regular trips to dog populated areas, he should do great ;D

Oh poor little GAMBIT (oops! that was Harry who turned on the Caps lock, ha ha... he just walked across the keyboard!). And poor you too, of course, Lucy! When we were out today, a very friendly Collie wanted to say 'Hello' to Harry and was even whining to reach him. I tried to encourage Harry (without pushing him - didn't want to scare him!) but he just bolted behind my knees and dug his heels in. The Collie's owner was going 'Ahhh!' to Harry, while I smiled and cringed as I had to pull him past. It's not going to be easy to change his little mind about other dogs, but at least he doesn't bark at them, so I suppose it could be worse

I think its easier now because you only have Harry so you can focus on just him. You should try to get him to ignore other dogs at first by making him sit for a treat and then just giving him loads of praised once the dog has past. Have you noticed any improvement yet from the frequent walks in "doggy" areas lol

i know...it's gutting when another dogs behaviour causes your little one to be nervous...its often the way tho. Lula got jumped on in the park by an over enthusiastic (all be it friendly) dog. It made her so nervous for ages.
Have you spoken to your neighbours about their dogs?
