I wasn't planning on doing raw now, of course. I just mentioned that they eat raw a couple meals a week, and she looked at me like I was crazy, poisoning her. She said she recommends cooked and that they could get Salmonella from that, and that could be what we were dealing with. So far no vommiting or diarrhea. Last time she threw up was about 7 am today, and that was the cooked chicken I fed her last night. She had some of my chicken strips I ate today (I took of the breading) at about 2 pm today, and I just offered her boiled chicken and she refused it, so I had to give her some baby food with the syringe, and she seemed to eat it okay. She is just so stuffed up, she isn't smelling the food. They gave her 100cc of fluids under the skin at the office. There is still a lot in there, 3 hours later. The doctor didn't say any prescription foods, but she recommended either the canned bland type food they had there, or boiled chicken and white rice, 1 tablespoon at a time. And if she keeps it down, another serving 2 hours later. Every time I need to get up and move her at all, she lets out a really low, long, quiet whine. It breaks my heart...

(as an aside, i sincerely dont think little izzie is sick from salmonella.. otherwise, wouldn't bella be as well? not to mention yourself. vets dont understand raw and are quick to point to it as the cause of many ailments in our pets, and ignore other factors. when my dogs are ill, i don't bother telling them what they eat.. to be honest, kibble has more salmonella than raw meat, most times -- so don't feel bad! you're not crazy and DEFINATELY NOT POSIONING your izzie)
Keep her hydrated, keep some food in her. Make sure to keep her sugars up (add in some honey with her baby food, but watered down?).

Oh gosh, hun. I'm so sorry. I know how worried you must be. I'll be keeping her in my thoughts. Sending love and hugs.

I would keep syringing liquids and the paste into her. Every 2 hours like Tracy said. I personally don't bother with water when they have diarrhea, but that's just me...its probably not a bad idea to keep that going into her too. I wish I had some better advice -- there has been a time or two I was really worried about some of my guys and they pulled through. Bryco was a really sickly puppy and he was 1/3 the size of Izzie and he pulled through fine. Please realize you can only put so much financial stress on your family to save one dog -- do what you can do, and go from there. Don't dig yourself a huge hole you can't get out of later on. Expenses can add up EXTREMELY fast with these little ones. Once you have your bills paid off from this, start setting aside a little $$ each week in a "care" fund, even if its just $5 or $10 each week...that way you have backup for if one gets sick in the future. I don't think she's gonna die, hun. The fluids they put in her should keep her going for a big but you've got to keep getting proteins, sugars and fluids and electrolytes into her. Hell, if she'll drink it on her own, give her lemon-lime gatorade.
My vet looks at me crazy when I say I feed any kind of "raw" food. While I agree -- not now, while she is immunosuppressed, when she is healthy it wont harm her. Dogs eat rotting carcasses of things in the wild and God made them that way so that they can eat it fine without issue.

Thanks everyone. I will keep pushing liquids and the paste into her every couple hours. I just can't stop crying, she is just laying here with me, she's not being Izzie..

Make sure where she sleeps is warm and comfy tonight too...if she doesn't have to monitor her body temp its one less thing her body has to stress itself to do. I think she will pull out of this I just think it may take time. Keep us updated...

I have a heating blanket that she slept on last night, I only put it on 1/2 the crate so she could get off if she wanted to, but I asked the vet assistant if I should keep her on that, and they said since she has a fever, added heat prolly wouldn't be too good. Wrapped up in a blanket should be good enough. Right now she is laying in the cheap little snuggle sack I have, but she won't move. Like, she will barely wake up, and if she does she goes right back to sleep. She just lays there..
