Thank you all for the support and the kisses i've passed them on, Tyson is feeling much happier today the anti-inflamatory must be working took him for his walk he was pestering us to go and he only held his leg up a couple of times and didn't appear to be in much pain. In fact he didn't want to come home. I will be doing a lot more investigations and getting other opinions before I go ahead with the surgery but in the end it will be what is best for Tyson when/if the surgery takes place. I will keep you informed when there is anything to update with. Thanks again

So sorry to see this. There is just wayyyyyyyyy too much LP going on in this wonderful breed. It makes me sad. I hope that Tyson is feeling better very soon. I agree with the supplements and Paula gave you some very good advice from someone who has been there. Keep us posted.

Oakley had surgery on one knee last fall--she injured hers, but the surgery is similar to what any LP procedure is. I would do your best to find a specialist. I would also start him on an ester-c supplement, we just started them w/ my crew and I've seen a noticeable difference in just a week in Laurel who has an injury related LP that was never fixed cuz hubby didn't have the $$ and now they can't... I would have an x-ray so they can determine if he has genetic or injury-related LP. Unfortunately, whether genetically predisposed or not, chis are more likely to have injury related LP than almost any other breed out there (I think Bostons might top them???). There are serious bone deformities in a genetic grade 3 or 4. I'd also get a 2nd opinion and grading -- some vets are not aware how to do the exams and if he's a 2 or lower I strongly suggest managing it through supplements and gentle confinement than surgery if at all avoidable

Great post Kristi.
How much ester c are you giving? I wonder how that works? Very interesting that you are already seeming improvement in Laurel.
