Is there any over the counter drugs that are safe for dogs during times of stress? I have tried Pet Calm, Thunder Jacket....it didn't do anything...I have tried calming music, background noise, e.t.c....so I need something that really works, lol. Behr is crying like a baby...so it gets annoying after awhile. We try to ignore him, so that he doesn't think he can get his way everytime... Attachments:

You know Matilda has a similar reaction to thunder. What I've recently found that helps her is giving her lots of chews (bully sticks, snozzles (pig snout) & beef trachea is what we used) & secluding her in the kitchen away from everyone. During a storm a couple weeks ago I tried this & in the midst of it I look in to find her in a corner on a pile of clothes chewing happily. I couldn't believe it!
Maybe find him some irresistable chews & try something similar? I know he's more extream than Matilda though with distroying things but it's worth a shot?

I give B a couple of drops of Valerian compound from Dorwest Herbs, when we have fireworks here and it keeps him calm

Thanks for the suggestions....& he is bad Heather. We had a door that kept them in their doggie room....& he bit thru it, & his gums where bleeding...since then... we have put up a metal Childs gate & he hasn't been able to get thru it..he just whines now. I will have to buy some of those things you mentioned to use in those cases....what is crazy, is if we let him in the main part of the house he is just fine...like nothing ever happen. Oh....& people are already starting with the fireworks here....
