All states are now 3 years for the rabies vaccination now Karen, so, yours should not need it every year?
Make sure that there is no xilitol or xylitol or whatever it is, sweetening the benadryl...that's poison to chi's or any dog. I know some children's medicines use it as a sweetener, but I am not familiar with the target brand so I just wanted you to double check!

Also, what does the benadryl say is in each 5 ml of it? usually it says it right on the front of the box, the usual suspension is 12.5 mg per 5 ml. So 1 ml = 2.5 mg, meaning dosage for a 4 lb dog would be about 1.6 ml/cc's so close to two of the tiny syringe you have. That's a dosage of 4 mg which is just about right for your girls.

From 1800petmeds.com on dosage, too, btw: "The usual dose in dogs and cats is 0.5-2mg/pound every 8-12 hours." IF there are signs of a reaction, I would absolutely give that 2 mg dose over the 1 mg dose

...and I will give them 2ml each dose. Thanks!
I will ask tomorrow about 3 year vaccine. GREAT vet but very, very by the book. They think that I am crazy. I truly believe that they think she "just outgrew" her food issues.
Been looking for a more holistic vet and one that has experience with smaller dogs. One that does not act as if I am over the top.
THANK YOU!

No problem I just recently watched a vaccine study where they stated that now all states are on the 3 year regime, so your vet may need to get w/ the times lol. Oh, they thought Bryco "outgrew" his food issues too. Ugh. And *eyeroll*. Your girls will be fine, but taking precautions never hurt anyone or anything, better safe than sorry I always say!
