Vets around here will neuter at 5mo. Pockets was done yesterday & he'll be 6mo on July 6. The vet in Boston won't do Boo yet because of his size. (he just turned 3lbs) But I'm sure there are some vets that would do them at that size.
It's a catch 22 though with doing them early. You rid the chance of any of the unpleasurable side effects but on the other hand if you wait you can have baby teeth removed (though you could have this done at 5mo if they're that far in teething) plus the growth thing that Kristi mentioned is interesting.

Finn will be 6 mos oct 2 so I will be sure to get him in in oct.

Pip wasn't neutered until he was over 2 years old when I got him and he never humps. He's also not a marker. We could walk past tree after tree, bushes, hydrants, and he never marks. Strange eh? He's not your average boy, I guess. I got lucky!
