Yeah I think it is length.
Saying that, I had the green classic puppia and the leash was thick and then I had the Skipper puppia and the leash was much thinner. But again, I don't know what size the leash was on that.

I just investigated (lol) and it's both length and width. Initially I thought it was just length. The small is thinner and shorter then the medium. According to a chart I saw on ebay, the medium is 1/2 wide and 2 inches longer then the small.
Size: Small (46"L x 3/8 W) Medium (48"L x 1/2 W) Large (48"L x 3/4 W)

Ahh right so the patterned ones I had must've been small! Well I must admit, they were much easier to hold and walk with

Did you just get plain colours? I really want to buy some too, they're really good quality!

I just got the plain colors, yes. That way I can match them with more than one harness. It gets super expensive buying all matching leashes. Plus the patterned ones seem to cost quite a bit more too. I'll use the money I saved to buy more harnesses. haha!

LOL! Good thinking! I recently sold all of my old harnesses so need to build up my collection again. Wearing the same ones every day makes them dirty and the frequent washing isn't so great
