I agree with, Tracy. I stopped feeding raw last year because I couldn't afford to do it but the way I see it is, I'd rather feed a pre-made than feed kibble. While they don't benefit entirely from chewing and bones, they're benefiting more than from kibble!
Saying that though, I think I do feed the pre-made more as a meat than as a balanced diet (if that makes sense), same with Sarah I believe. I don't entirely trust the amount of organs in the mixes so I add more myself and they still get chicken carcass and ribs etc for chewing for their teeth!
ETA I'm saying pre-made but I mean grind! Or mince as we call it. Its supposed to be 80 10 10 but as I said, I like to give extra bone for teeth and organ because I know it doesn't have 5% liver and I can see chunks of organ so while Chaos might get a piece, Gambit might not so thats why I tend to feed as a meat rather than a complete diet. I've also worked out which ones are more bone heavy etc so I know which I can give on bone days.

I figured it cost about $100 a month when I was feeding 6. Obvously more now with a 7th. I've been doing premades for a couple months (which I had figured would cost about the same--$100 for the 6 for a month) & while feeding the recommended amount they were getting a bit on the thin side. Sooo, premades seem to cost more than even ordering from HT because they require more....about $125ish worth for the 6 for premades a month. Sooo back to the drawing board. I placed an order from HT that cost $160 total for 45lbs of grinds (all were grinds except 5lbs of green tripe). I will off set that with chicken from the local grocery store which I should be able to get for approx $1.50 or less per pound. If I feed that 2-3 times a week I'm hoping the order & chicken will last a month & a half. If I did my math right anyway...my lot requires just over 1.5lbs of food a day combined. I will probably end up getting some small S&C's patties for Mari for when I feed the rest beef so that will help it last a bit longer though cost an additional $14. Actually what I need to do is order a case or two of chicken necks from the buther in Portland. Those are only about .79 cents per pound. Now that would be more economical AND they seem to do better with the necks so I'll probably end up doing that. Just have to find out when hubby will be in the area for work as I hate spending $30 in gas traveling 3hrs total to pick them up. LOL Sorry to ramble--I've been thinking a lot on this lately.
