So I know organs are a very important part of a raw diet as they provide the nutrients they need for a balanced diet etc etc And I know the percentages are just a guideline and like bone content some need slight variations. Anyway my dogs are shedding especially daisy and it's doing my nut in and I read somewhere that it can be a sign that they aren't getting enough organs! So I'm going to slowly increase as organs give my girls rocket bum if I over do it and lotus is poo pooing loads ATM haha poor thing Anyway I wondered if anyone new of any reasons not too?? I wondered if because daisy (who is doing most the shedding) needed a higher bone content would need more organs and I'm willing to try anything to stop lotus blowing her coat

I keep hearing of dogs blowing coat like mad! Brody isn't shedding at all. Interesting. I do tend to be a bit organ heavy, but that's mainly because they are so easy to overfeed since they require such a tiny amount!
Can you get a wide assortment of organs there? I'd tend to say it's OK to go heavy on most all organs EXCEPT for liver because they are so heavy in vitamin A. So you could do extra kidneys, brains, reproductive organs, etc. But I would keep the liver at just 5% of the diet.
Have you increased the omega 3's? Salmon oil?
What about eggs? They have the whole package and are a great, complete food for skin/coat and overall health. I know a german shepherd breeder who feeds one a day to her dogs.

We can get kidney and liver easy and relatively cheap! I am going to the halal shop this week will see ifthey do anything weird they can have! The girls get either cod-liver oil, olive oil or evening primrose oil daily and I'm not tight in portions And they get one partially scrambled (get rocket butt with raw) egg a week What's the issue with vitamin a?? Daisy doesn't look naked she has a good coat just pissing me off with the shedding I've been brushing her out twice a day and lotus is starting to blow hers ad I want too (need) to prevent it I don't want her dropping too much coat after her season is over

I think we tend to under-feed organ here, so we also notice Betty and Goo shed a bit more than I'd like! I will def try adding more organ, seems like a good idea. Do bitches normally shed a lot more after a season? No idea, just asking.

How much fat is in their diets Sarah? I know there is a tendency to trim away visible fat or not feed skin/blobs of fat but dogs NEED fat in their diets for skin/coat health and they also metablize fat as energy. Do you feed much fatty meat like pork? It's easy to get into the chicken and beef rut and accidentally end up feeding very little fat. You could even add in some fatty hamburger (the cheap stuff). Add a small meatball of fatty hamburger every other day or so to their regular meals and see if that doesn't help with the shedding as well.

hmmmm..... well the only thing I can think of to add is a fish oil. I know you do the cod liver oil, but I'd get some salmon or krill oil or sardine oil or a combo. You can get the cheapy fish oil for people. Just poke a hole in it and squirt onto a plate for them to lick up, straight into their mouths, or drizzle on food. Brody loves it. A therapeutic dose could be as much as one fish oil capsule a day but work up to it slowly since it can cause loose stools if you jump right in. What about adding in a little vitamin E as well? I know it's good for skin and coat and some sources say that fish oil can deplete vitamin E so it's good to supplement a little vitamin E when you give fish oil. You can just poke a hole in a 200iu capsule several times a week.
