Thank's both of you Yes, I do think we will see more Chihuahuas and other small breeds come into rescue, though at moment many don't make it into kennel situation as they are soon offered homes via word of mouth. A few months ago I was asked if I would be interested in a little long coat bitch, but she was not good with other bitch's She was being re-homed by a lady who grooms, her client was not able to keep her. The little girl was spayed thankfully and soon found a home with a male dog and last I heard was doing well x

Aw that's great news! Its sad though that they end up in these situations and also that the bigger dogs get less of a look in

A while back a friend told me about a little Yorkie that was practically re-homed before she was even booked into rescue, someone saw her in the reception area and made an enquiry. The Yorkie was acessed, neutered etc before being placed of course, but was never really available. So, anyone looking for "tinies" needs to be quick :0

Hi Rosie's mum! Nice to meet you. Well done for getting that pair of chi's a new loveing home. I have also noticed the explosion of Jack Russell/ chi crosses up for rescue. A year ago on dogsblog there were one or two up for adoption, now they are about 9 at any one time I blame the people breeding them, usually telling people that they will be 3lbs and look just like a chihuahua, people think they can carry it round in their handbag and don't need to walk it. Then they rehome it when it grows to 12 lbs and wont fit in a handbag, wont wear cute clothes and needs *SHOCK* daily excercise and mental stimulation. People forget that terriers are working dogs, they have instinct to chase and to rip things up, a jack russell- chihuahua cross is more likely to be a terrier than to be a toy!

Thank you for the welcome and couldn't agree more with what you say! Personally I love terriers, I had a rescue Yorkie cross for 17 years, still miss her But I don't think most of them are for the "faint hearted" you could say Cross them with a Chihuahua and you seem to get a highly intelligent, feisty and determined little dog, all great stuff for the right owner, but not for anyone wanting a lap dog or "toy" x
