Thanks everyone The only result that came up was the vet said that despite the increased water consumption she's not 'taking it in' and her wee isn't able to concentrate (at least I think that's what he said) He has suggested her diet it too high in protein? Does that sound right. He said some dogs are great on high protein and some not. Pixel being one that probably isnt. We discussed her diet and he said I was maybe using too high good protein for her. Well I have put a thread on veggies in food - so if you know much about protein, dogs and those that cant eat high protein thn please post it there (just so I can keep everything together)

I would suggest looking at cushings disease and/or diabetes as a possible cause. Sorry you are going through this. But I don't believe this is diet related.

That's wonderful news. I'm so glad her blood work came back ok. I hope you can get to the bottom of her water consumption and wetting issue soon. Keep us posted.

I would suggest looking at cushings disease and/or diabetes as a possible cause. Sorry you are going through this. But I don't believe this is diet related. Aside from the water consumption she doesn't fit cushings, it was discussed. Diabetes came back clear in urine and blood although there was a rarer type of diabetes that it could be. I am hoping that once she is getting out and about and now she's finished all meds including her synulox she will just stop - fingers crossed as her water consumption is much reduced last 24 hours - maybe it will just continue!

Oh I hope so too!!! Maybe it's just 'one of those things' that can't be explained but spontaneously resolve. That would be the best news ever.

But I have to say I am also quite mystified by what the vet said and when I discussed raw diets and premium dog food with 80% protein and stuff he couldn't really give me an answer other than just 'try lower and see'. I have also read loads on it and yes in humans high protein can increase water consumption but I've not seen it in dogs.
I guess i'll just see what happens for a few weeks and take it from there if it doesn't stop.
Today and yesterday she's drank about 200ml of water that isn't too much. Thanks for your input though, you seem to really know your stuff with medical stuff and diet - I definitely need help and guidance so your help is much appreciated!

I really hope it's nothing serious and does resolve itself but wanted to say that prey model raw is 80% meaty meat, not so much 80% protein so perhaps that's where your vet got confused?
