Do breeders offer a full refund/part refund if people return the pup to them? Obvioulsy each breeder will be different and I'm sure some will throw up their hands in horror at the very thought But it might ensure owners get back in touch with breeder rather than sell on? Maybe it could be negotiable? Not sure what they answer is, but there seems to be an increasing number of Chihuahuas flying around that have been sold on

Depends on the condition of the dog I know I could get a refund minus mydeposit at anytime but my dogs will never go anywhere lol If I was going to have to pay for spaying, re socialising and start from The beginning I wouldn't give any money back I'd take the dog and go u know. Unfortunately contracts aren't legally binding it's a shame because if u saw one of your pups being advertised you don't have any legal claim

It's a difficult one for breeders I guess, don't offer to refund and they must realise there is every chance of owner selling on rather than returning. Or signing them over to a rescue if the have subsequent concerns over the breeder and money is not of importance. I am sure there has been a case of a rescue taking legal action to have a dog returned and it was sucessful, so their contract must have been okay? But maybe they won because they do not sell animals as such? Not sure I use to always tell new owners we would always take back and refund adoption fee (if reqiuested) at any time and under any circumstances, no conditions. To be honest when we did occaisionally have an animal returned, the owners did not ask for adoption fee returned. But then I suppose we were only asking small (probably max ever was £100 ) amounts, not hundreds of pounds. In an ideal world everyone would rehome via word of mouth, but now the market is saturated with pedigree puppies it must be getting harder and harder to do so

if there was ever any of perrys puppies that were needing re homed or something went wrong and the owner couldn't afford to fix the pup then i would take the pup in a flash. i wouldn't pay the owner for it tho! i am always interested in perrys puppies, i am in contact with all the owners of puppies sired by him lol i am very interested in how they all turn out. i wouldn't just let anyone use perry. he isnt the best dog in the world but he is to good for most bitches haha and he throws big puppies so wouldn't put him to a bitch who has already had a csection. i was going to do a little write up on owning a stud dog and was going to post my contract but it needs updating.

Thank's everyone, interesting It's funny but over the years I've only ever said to people with pedigree dogs needing re-homung "have you thought about contacting your dog's breeder" never considered the "feelings" of stud dog owner! To be honest years ago it would be hard to trace them (other than KC?) now it would be easier to do with internet! That said in many cases it's sadly not in the dogs (generalising don't just mean Chi's) best interest to go back to breeder, though that I leave up to owner to decide, more or less
