As title of post When it comes to the pups, thier dog sires? Should rescue people consider them too? Not just the breeder of pup/dog that needs re-homing? Any thoughts? Especially from owners of stud dogs Though any thoughts welcome. Thank you! x

I think it depends on the individual owner! IMO stud owners are as much responsible for those pups as the bitches owner, they need a lot of experience in handling dogs etc which is a whole different thread.
In all honesty a reputable breeder would take the dogs bat no matter how old or for what ever reason.. So there shouldn't be a reason to try contact the studs owner. I would also think it would be difficult as unless the stud owner bred the dog themselves td be hard to find them! And obv if they aren't kc reg there's no way of knowing

So you think the responsibility lies ultimately with bitch owner? A stud dog's owner's responsibility ends when they pocket stud fee?
Something to ponder for sure ... perhaps best just to re-home, which is what seems to be happening, though if my stud was father I would be horrified!!

No I said IMO they are just as much responsible as the bitches owner!! BUT not everyone is responsible! Indeed they aren't ... does the breed Club have an opinion/take on this? Does a stud dog owners responsibility end when they accept stud fee? Does ultimate responsibility then pass to person owning bitch? Are there any BCC guidelines for breeders? Seems easy money for stud dog owner ... and yes, I appreciate they have to pay show fees etc etc etc Out of interest, what are the stud fees for Chiahuahua that has attained credibility at high level ... just curious ... Rosie is spayed

I don't know the BcC take on it. They have a set of rules and ethics for members which cover breeding they are on their website.
I would say ultimate responsibility is with the bitch owner whetheror not that is ethically correct is a different matter!
Show fees average £30 a show plus travel etc!!! With petrol costs etc I'm sure you can imagine!!! I personally would never use a stud who hasn't been succesfully shown... That's just me! Stud fees range £150-£500 depending who you go to some want puppies back some a fee and a puppy back, some have restrictions like all progeny have to be endorsed bar the one you keep (and all their progeny)
Obviously a lot of people won't let just anyone use their dogs which Is a good thing!!!!
Personally I think pickin a stud dog is so hard!!! There are so many good dogs to pick from! so much to take into consideration... Confirmation, type, pedigree, what you want to achieve (faults etc), temperament, health etc etc if it's done correctly it's a big decision I think and obv the studs owner has got to think your bitch is good enough.

The stud owner should be as responsible for the pups as the bitch owner.
Earlier in the year I was aware that one of my puppy owners was trying to sell his dogs. I had known he had spilt up from his partner 2 years previously and after struggling to look after his whippets he decided to rehome them. I couldn't contact him as he had changed his details so had to wait in the hope he contacted me.
He did I went and collect both hsi whippets one bred by me the other sire by one of my males. Both had severe dog aggression problems due to not been walked properly for 2 years. We worked with them and have sorted out their problems. They have now gone to a new home with a family who adore them.
There was no way I would have taken the bitch back and left the dog as I didn't breed him I was just as responsible for him being born as the bitch owner.

That's because you did the right thing not manypeople would and in a rescue situation where you don't have papers etc I don't think it can ever fall on the sire. I would be traumatised if someone sold one if my pups on
