I noticed tonight as Ivy was laying beside me....that she stunk...not the normal dog smell...but coming from her butt. She was spayed over a year ago, so she isn't in heat.....& I have smelled this smell before. We cleaned her anal glands last night....but not much came out....is this a normal smell? Just want to make sure she is ok. She hasn't scooted her bum since we cleaned them. However....when we clean Behr's....he gets so happy...he starts dancing, lol.....she doesn't act any different....just checking. I am a worry wart.

Maybe you just released one? I'd check both are empty. They shouldn't smell

It's possible one or both of her anal glans could be infected. If she were mine and still smelly I'd take her in for a check up. Vets can express gands better than most owners, by doing so internally with finger. So it might be that if there is a bit more inflammation or infection going on, you have not emptied all contents. Asking the obvious, but you have washed her bottom after doing her glands? The smell can linger otherwise! Just my thoughts

Yeah -d probably try & express them again & then wash her hiney with warm soapy water. That's smell can stick & linger! Matilda gets happy when we express hers but Maxie doesn't share the enthusiasm. LOL Hopefully its lingering secretion from emptying them last night....
