As a breeder of 24 years i never breed back to back i like my girls to have a good rest after having pups and if one of my girls have a C section i dont breed from her again . I think the kennel club are rite to lower the amount of litters a bitch can have. To many breeders over do it with there girls........... and there are far to many back street breeders out there breeding without thinking about what the hell there doing the only thing they think about is how much cash they make not about the welfare of there dogs or the puppies they bring into the world it gets my back rite up thats why far too many chihuahuas end up in recsue

Angie do you spay the same time as a section? I was wondering about this as I've heard some do some don't because they worry about the milk flow.

I have a very good vet and he always spays my girls at the same time i have only had a problem once and that was a maidan bitch she was scared off her puppies lol but she was ok after a couple of hours

I see the KC are changing it from six to four litters for a bitch from Jan 2012 That's good, of course it won't stop some people breeding more, but it's an improvement

hi, at my vet practice they asked my friend whose bulldog bitch was due in for a c section could be neutered after the c section, but she said no as in there breed i believe all or mostly are borne c section due to there head shape/size of the pups. Also bull dog mothers are not good mothers with there babies so they are mostly hand reared also there nose shape effects breathing ect...
I think personally that the Kc need to look into c section restriction as some breeds are high c section, so by cutting back on the c section allowance is only going to cause more issues with any breed i feel.

I don't agree. The health of the dogs is paramount. Scar tissue forms after a section and continuing to breed them is unhealthy. Bulldogs are an iffy subject they have been bred to look a certain way and are unhealthy they have a lot of problems. Sone can mate and whelp naturally I believe. But I think they have a lot of recommended health tests not sure tho
The only reason they should lift the limit is if a breed is going extinct or if it will make a huge difference to a breed. IMO
