hey, just wondering if anyone here has litter trained their chihuahuas and what are the pros/cons? thinking about doing it with my little one as at the moment he is mainly using puppy pads and i live in a flat so thinking it would be easier espec in the winter!

I've no experience of litter training and personally wouldn't consider it. I've lived in a flat with a dog and we managed with no isssues getting her out into garden to toilet. As always though, personal choice and if you decide to go ahead, I'd guess it would just be a case of putting a pad inside shallow tray? I would think that would be as easy as actual litter, especially as he is already pad trained x

I have the Nugi dog litter tray from Petplanet. Mine were already paper/pad trained when I first bought this tray and they did not like to stand on the plastic mesh on the tray at first. So we put a couple of pieces of newspaper on top and as they used it then. Then we reduced it from a couple of sheets down to half of one. It took about a week or so for them to get used to this and by the time I took the last piece of newspaper away they did'nt even notice this and have never looked back. It does save having ripped up newspaper/pads and you can wash and reuse the pads that come with the tray.
