Like the title says he's freezing. Rez is pretty bald on his forearms, chest, tummy, inside back legs. He does have hair but its thin He's getting miserable the colder it gets - this morning after going out to wee he just went inside his crate and shivered. I warmed him a heat pad and he stayed there. Now he has a hotwater bottle under a thermal blanket and he's crashed on there. He has a top on, he's only one fleece - I have ordered another and 2 jumpers but i'm getting worried for him, it's only October and he's miserable with the cold. What can I do??

I have three smooth coats and one of them is just the same as Rez. She is thin coated in the same areas and really, really feels the cold. She has hardly come out of her bed these few colder days and when she does she is shivering and trying to burrow under or in anything she can just to get warm. She is wearing her fleeces all the time aswell as a coat if we go out. She was like this last winter too. My other two dont feel the cold even half as much as her and she is also the chubby one of the three. Like you I use heat pads.

Its crazy he's really suffering and I hate it.
I think he needs one of those fleecy kennel type beds where he can go in, get warm and stay warm.
He just had his food, room temperature too and he's a mess of shivering and dribbling where he doesn't like what's happening to him while pixel is going about with a toy trying to entice me to play.

Lisa you can Buy heated beds from pet nap, they are expensive tho. Or get a heat pad like for puppies they are cheaper on eBay.
There's not much you can do, he needs to learn to tolerate the cold thoug it's not that cold yet, winter isn't here and you don't want him to suffer I'd try to build his tolerance up too

I started using a heat pad today.
Can I really make him tolerate the cold or will it hurt him by not keeping him warm?
See he's so bald in spots I keep thinking if I only had shorts and a crop top on and had to go outside to wee I'd freeze too. I'm interested if you really can build up tolerance to the cold - I didn't think you could?

Well for a wee he can learn to wee quicker. Mine feel the cold but I keep them Moving. When it gets really cold (3 degrees and under) I will Put jumpers on them but walking keeps them warm.
I just feel it's not that cold ATM It's gonna get really cold and you can't layer him up like michellin man

Yes I know I can't layer him like that - as much as me might need me too.
Pixel doesn't feel it at all - she's still about her usual routine of sniffing round the garden all the time, he's different Sarah because of the lack of coat. Long hairs I think have a better layer of protection - certainly in my 2's case.
Trust me he's weeing and straight back in NOW. That's why I am worried about the proper cold. He's a nightmare without a walk - I get him out every day and if I only walk in the morning he's a big ol bundle of hyperness come the evening so not walking him is a big no no.
Considering one of those silly equafleece body suits for proper winter walks as he can still go to the loo but most of his bald bits will be covered.
Pixel is going to be so easy this winter
