I find some vets think we young, female owners are just pushovers and idiots. Especially because we own small dogs. It's VERY disgusting! We had a vet who was very cheap, did good work... I had to drive over an hour to get there, but hey, it works right? Then I got Betty - she had to get a dental. I sent some ground lamb along with her, just incase bc she had to stay overnight. I called after the scheduled surgery time, to ask how she did and the receptionist started REAMING me out about how bad her teeth were, how I can't feed a dog ground meat only and expect her to be okay, what a horrible owner I was.... I'm serious. She just ASSUMES all this is true? I yelled back at her that we HAD JUST ADOPTED BETTY, and SHE WASNT JUST FED GROUND MEAT BUT SHE JUST HAD DENTAL SURGERY YOU IDIOT SO I WASNT SENDING HER A PORK RIB! She even argued with me that raw was bad for small dogs, because they were DIFFERENT than large breed dogs (I brought up that my mom rawfeeds her shepherds raw and they don't yell at her!)... yes, SMALL DOGS ARE TOTALLY A DIFFERENT SPECIES THAN SMALL DOGS! LOL I stopped going to that vet. Sadly, it wasn't even a vet - just a tech. I may start going there again, because they are cheap and I live closer now (my amazing vet is so far away ).. but I'll be damned if anyone treats me like that again. I'd slap her stupid face off. /hijack Sorry Hahha! What I mean to say is - I understnad where you're coming from, and highly suggest you find a new vet. Then call and tell them WHY you left, and that you are going to tell EVERYONE how awful they are.

OMG Kelly what a terrible experience! I never bothered telling my vet that I fed my dogs raw, because I knew I would get a lecture.
I have asked for vet recommendations in my area and have found a few promising ones. Hopefully our next vet experience will be a good one.

I've only just seen this as I have only had intermitent intent for the last few days.
If it was me I would not only look for a new vet but would also send a letter of complaint to the practice manager. In my eyes it would most certainly not be good enough if the vet had said he would ring on a friday but was not in the office that day then someone else should have phoned even if it was just the receptionist to say there was no signs of an infection. I would also be asking the new vet for a second opinion.
