So i took Daisy for her boosters last week, they asked me if i have any concerns and i said no but she does sometimes sound a bit "chesty" when breathing, i don't know how to describe the noise but its a bit like shes got a cold. Shes fine in herself always has energy and doesn't struggle on walks, she has had this noise for months i always presumed it was because my dad and his OH smoke quite heavily around her hence never taking her to vets for it. The vet listened to her and said it didn't sound good, possibly a chest infection, so she couldn't have her boosters and she had to go on antibiotics to see if it cleared it up. Well she finished her antibiotics a few days ago and nothings changed, i'll have to ring vets back up this week but has anyone got any idea on what it could be?

pneumonia? I'd get a chest x-ray and see what's going on.

That does seem to be coming up as a possibility, been googling. The vets thought her brother had bronchitis a while back but hes been fine since, i don't know if its contagious Have been told by a few people to get an x-ray so i will speak to vets about it

It doesn't sound good hope she gets better soon. Pneumonia is v painful and I would think she wouldn't Be acting herself so maybe this is the beginning of something? You've had such bad luck with health this year

Sometimes chronic congestion in the lungs can be a symptom of heart disease. If the heart isn't pumping efficiently and effectively, fluid can pool in the lungs. That's why I'd get an x-ray. An enlarged heart will show on the x-ray.

I don't know how much x-rays are there in the UK but my vet charges $60. They are digital and ready in a few minutes and you can look at them on a computer screen (zoom in, etc.).
At least you would know what was going on and if it was something you need to act on or something you can just treat symptomatically. For me it would be worth it for peace of mind to rule out the bad things.
