Kristi- gorge meals are natural for dogs (they would gorge on a kill, then not eat for several days until they could catch another animal). It didn't happen ALL the time, but it does happen.. I think it's most common in winter? We really don't do it with regularity.. every so often they have a rib with lots of meat and then the next day eat a VERY small meal, as well as the day after. As far as benefits? I dunno... probably not except that they eat a large portion in one meal and usually since mine are ribs - they get mentally stimulated. It's not something you have to do (esp with small dogs, I know large breed dog people do it way more often). Tracey- Haha! Brody might gorge on cooked stuff instead? LOL Little stinker! I figure, as long as he does eat, it's a good thing. Picky eaters are a PITA though! I could never deal. If my guys don't eat it, they don't eat. Simple. I'm a bad mommy. Sarah- I think if I let Betty and Goo have a rack of ribs they would eat til they exploded! I usually give them two days worth of food on one rib, so it's not THAT much... just a lot for one meal. They look SO FUNNY after! I definately need to get pics sometime. Daisy sounds like Betty! She's my little cow-dog. Yesterday, they were so full they were wadlding - I was getting the cats dinner ready and the dogs were bouncing/rolling around my feet asking to be FED! Hahaha! They had so much food left in their tummies they looked pregnant! COWS I TELL YOU! LOL

I could never let my dogs do that.. They would eat until they died. Lion might have the sense to stop, but Penny wouldn't stop eating unless you made her.
