I have noticed that Lion is hesitant to jump up on stuff lately. His knees seem sort of "bowed". I have never seen him skipping, but could this be a sign of LP? I tried to find a photo of him standing to show what I mean by bowlegged, but this is all I have right now. I will take another photo tomorrow.

Its really hard to say. My mom has a chi that has legs like that and he has rock solid knees (he's Trig's brother). A whole bunch of stuff can cause them to be cautious jumping on and off of stuff and it's really not good for them anyway...I have seen chis do such weird things with their rear legs that I never assume anything anymore based off how they stand or how they move. I don't think it's indicative of good knees or not. Hips also can have problems in chis. Chances are though, it isn't anything. Very few chis move soundly in the ring, so I can only imagine our pets must be pretty bad! Try not to let it worry you, and maybe get him insured, or just set some money aside incase he needs things fixed later.

Thanks, I will try not to worry about it! I actually insured him a few months ago so we should be covered if he has future problems.

W/ Petplan it takes 6 months, so if it hasn't been at least 6-7 months I wouldn't ask your vet, especially if Lion isn't in any obvious discomfort

I would worry about it unless he acts like he's in pain, like Kristi said. I wish Roo was hesitant to t jump on things. I have to keep the sofa blocked off to keep her jumping on it. So I hve an ugly white gate in front of my sofa. lol. I put steps there, but wouldn't you know she will only use them to go up and always wants to jump down. Sigh.

Brody is a JUMPING BEAN. Now I'm worried. So is Penny.. I am afraid she is going to hurt herself. Sometimes she jumps up onto my chairs and then the table, or onto the coffee table from the ground.

How do you stop them from jumping?! I mean he is ALL OVER. We have stairs but he vaults up on the couch/bed etc like he's on springs. If you tell him to knock it off he will jump up and down in place. He's crazy active. (When he's not asleep, he has two speeds.)
