Oakley's swelling is 100% gone - horray! I didn't even give her a 2nd dose of benadryl. Bryco apparently had a 'friend' nibble or BITE his ear ha ha. So we have some antibiotic ointment that hopefully will clear it up. Once she finally got the ear cleaned out it was a hilariously small spot that just kept oozing!

Me too...phew. I was freaking out because it swelled up super super quick.
Now I just have to get Leah sorted. it doesn't make any sense to me...I gave her a quick but thorough bath tonight in cain/able shampoo & conditioner and am letting her air dry. hopefully that way IF she was allergic to one of the shampoos/grooming products, this will get her on the road to recovery b'c so far nothing else has. Panalog didn't do a damn thing.

I recently was reading about how many chemicals are in shampoo, etc. even the natural ones and J&J is going to re-do their baby shampoo after alot of complaints of chemical burns on babies from the shampoo! Crazy!! So one list I was on - people were talking about shampoo alternatives. One that was regularly recommended.... egg yolks. You crack open a couple eggs, save the yolks, scramble them up and then rub on the dogs coat, just like shampoo. Really scrub it into the fur and skin and then rinse well. It apparently is very soothing and also cleansing? Something about the proteins in the egg yolk. Anyway, some dogs with very sensitive skin made miraculous recoveries after these egg yolk baths. Might be worth a try and certainly wouldn't hurt?!

Glad Oakleys ears is all better-phew! And I'm also glad Bryco's ear isn't too serious as well. I hope you get some results with the different bathing regimine for Leah. How interesting Tracy about the egg yolks. Who would have though to try that? haha Something to keep in mind anyway even if we run out of shampoo. ;D

Tracy - ew, yuck! But, maybe worth a try...maybe on ME? Ha ha!
So I have to say I am really impressed with the Cain & Abel shampoo/condtioner, she doesn't smell that great like I am used to but her coat is very soft and feels healthy. HOPEFULLY it has fewer 'offensive' ingredients and the lack of silicon or whatever is in normal shampoo for show dogs will give her coat time to rest. Its gonna be real hard to not use all my fav shampoos and conditioners though when show time rolls around again they make her look AMAZING!
Wow chemical burns from baby shampoo? WTF? Sometimes I think people overreact, but maybe not, who knows? J & J baby shampoo is what I've been tld to have on hand to clean up momma dogs with post-puppies...

Haha, we have been raising chickens for the past 2 years-ish, so I had to get creative with uses for all the eggs. LOL. Using it as a shampoo replacement is one of the things I came across, and boy is it a deep clean softener! An apple cider vinegar rinse is recommended. I don't do it regularly, but I like it!
