I've been noticing the past couple of weeks Pip's breath is really bad, it smells like sour milk. I took a flashlight and looked at his teeth really well to see if there was something funky going on and they all look really good. He has very tiny bits of yellowish hardened tartar on a few of his top teeth and bottom, but that is about it really. All his back teeth are clean and white and his gums look healthy. I brush his teeth every night.
He acts totally fine, he doesn't act sick at all, otherwise I would have taken him to the vet obviously. I may just take him in anyway, I don't understand why his breath should be this bad. It's taken a turn for the worse in the last two weeks, despite his teeth looking better than they have in the past.
So do you think it's his teeth? Is it possible it's some kind of digestive issue? He's always been sensitive in that area and sometimes I hear his stomach sorta gurgling. I was thinking about giving him a probiotic for a week and see if that helps. I have some packets of forti flora. When I look online it says it could be a fungal infection. hmm. I also haven't changed anything diet wise. Any suggestions or ideas what it could be?

You know, they might. That's actually something that I thought of as well, especially since he scooted a couple of times recently. I never see him licking himself though. Hmm.

I was thinking anal glands too... I'd do that & add in the forti flora & see if you see a difference. Definitely doesn't sound tooth related though if everything looks a-ok in there.

Thanks Sarah and Heather. It's actually better today after using the forti flora packet. Seems hard to believe as I've only used it a few times. (3 meals) I guess I'll just keep using it for now and see how it goes. I might take him in to have his anal glands done, I'm wimpy about doing it, I always think I'm going to hurt them.

Thanks hun. So far, so good. His breath is definitely better so maybe it was some sort of digestion issue. I also noticed his tummy isn't doing the gurgling anymore. I may keep him on this for a bit. Pip unfortunately has a very sensitive tummy.
