Yeah I have used the medium sized one. Got & used it on Zander so by the time I used it on the Chi's it was pretty dull. I didn't notice any coat breakage from using it but I found it worked quite well on my LC's & on my double coated SC's (Milo) when they were shedding. Just have to be careful because if you push too hard it could scratch them but I've only had that issue when I tried it on Maxie who has a short single coat...didn't work at ALL & wasn't pleasant for either of us. LOL
I've never used the zoom groom but it sounds interesting!

Thanks, is eBay the best place to get one from? Anywhere else stock them?

What exactly does a furminator do? I thought it had a razor built in or am I thinking of something else?

I'm sure the fulminate is best suited to really thick coats such as huskies etc. it's good for getting the undercoat out. The look of it scares me!

Thanks everyone for the replies! Sarah - thanks so much for the zoom groom suggestion. I have a rubber curry brush, which I thought was similar, but I picked up a zoom groom anyway. It works really well! I had a little pile when I was done. lol. I think if I use it every day I should be able to keep the loose hair under control. Tracy - thanks for the greyhound comb suggestion. I had never heard of it. I'm going to look it up and may pick one of them up as well. Heather - thanks for your input on the furminator. I'll see how it goes with these other things first. The zoom groom worked really well. You might want to consider one. For those in the states, you can get them at Petsmart for 8.00. Amazon has them even cheaper.
