Question: has anyone here dealt with anal gland expression?
Baby was fine yesterday, then last night after she went out to use the bathroom she came back in acting odd, and holding her rear left leg in an unusual position. She was acting like something was bothering her, and kept trying to lick her bottom.
We took a look and nothing seemed to be wrong, all looked ok. Forward a few hours later, it was time for bed, and she was still acting funny, so decided to check it again. Suddenly there was now a quite large red bump. Freaking out I googled it, and came across anal gland impaction/abscess. We called her vet when we woke up and took her this afternoon to have it looked at, it was drained and now she is on antibiotic - it happened so suddenly! Has anyone else had similar experience, or is anyone else acquainted with the process of expression??
I was worried sick about her, but she is fine now, resting & recooping, also eating well, playing, and acting her normal self again.

Yep same thing happened to my Dr. Evil. Went to work.. come home.. and he was acting all weird.. looked at his bum and there was this massive red blister like thing.. so off the E vet we go.. He is fine now but im always worried about it happening again cause he always tries to bite his bum.. i tried doing it myself.. but i dont want to hurt him.. and im not paying a vet 20$ + 50$ exam fee.. so im always feeling his bum to see if they are full.. so far so good.. and this was 2 years ago. He did take about a week to recover tho... (but he is a scaredy cat dog to begin with)

It's good to know we aren't alone.. it was terrible - Baby is doing much better today, and it seems to be healing very well. I'm trying to find the post with the video you mentioned Sarah.. is it in this Chihuahua Health forum section?
