So happy yesterday

Yesterday was such an amazing day!

As most of you know i didn't get Rez until 4 1/2 months and he hadn't been socialised at that time (so important) and as a result he's so afraid of other dogs. He has bitten another dog who came over to smell him and will lunge and bark at any large dog he sees. It's very scary.

I have been doing the Victoria Stillwell thing of walking him away every time he behaves badly on walks but if the big dog is off lead and runs towards him (he's always on a lead now) then I pick him up out of the way.

Well he hasn't been 'nice' to a single dog so far. But yesterday they were in the huge field by our house and we were right in the middle. My sister was there with her male collie and they WERE being friendly - so I took him and Pixel off the lead when I spotted a lady I know coming over with her Chihuahua and Yorkie. Well Rez was wonderful - he played like a gentleman the while time. So in the end there was a group of 6 dogs - 3 of them male - 2 of them big and he was good as gold. I stayed for as long as I could and was so chuffed afterwards.

I hope so! I spent a LOT of time socialising Pixel and I know how important it is. But Rez is improving and its such a great feeling.

Mine are fine with all chihuahuas and toy dogs.. they may bark a bit at other breeds but are generally happy to see them.. big dogs when they are together is a nightmare it becomes very loud.. lotus thinks she can eat big dogs.. Leilani bounces and barks then rolls over and daisy just doesnt care... alone they are ok!

Yes Rez thinks he can take on any big dog - he's a bit of a pain. I will definitely keep working on him, its wonderful seeing progress.
