Holistic Vet

Lucy and I went to visit the holistic vet yesterday to see what he was like before I book the pups in for their vaccs.

He was very how I expected although was a little opinionated but still backed down when Lucy started chatting!!

Interesting chat about vaccs he doesn't even do puppy vaccinations on his dogs. Hates Lepto regardless of the fox problems here and doesn't even suggest a titre as far as he's concerned the dogs are covered. I don't feel comfortable not vaccinating puppies and had a chat about the size of vaccinations and he said it seems ridiculous to him that for all other medications it's done in weight but vaccinations are just the entire vile.. So he agreed to give a full dose.. Said he isn't sure if it would work properly but not to worry so I am happy to do that my boys.

He was very honest but is very much like let nature be nature which I agree with but only to a certain extent.

The nurses were lovely and all the staff had all natural treats to give to all the dogs to bond with them. Fat Leilani (got told she was fat hahahaha she could do with losing a couple of ounces but not much) thought it was Christmas omg she was bouncing around grinning at everyone barking at the dogs hahahahaha!!! Rogue was more subdued lol

Overall am pretty happy with them and will use them for a lot of stuff if needed

That sounds like a great visit Sarah! I agree that puppies need a vaccine series. I believe in limited vaccines, not NO vaccines. Will be interesting to see how you like him as time goes on. Sounds like a great start though.

My friend has use him for years he's so expensive bit she said shed never change

He's a barf feeder omg Tracy he was like what do u feed we were like prey model raw and he goes so what do you feed I said food LoL he was like yeah but what.. Well omg Lucy reeled off every animal possible hahahaha then he goes what about veg I said no he started yapping on about veg and Lucy was giving him evils hahahahaha I just stood quiet lol and have explained everything and then he goes oh I don't feed much veg Bahaha asked about the amount of bone we feed (I know that barf feed like 40%) but he was perfectly happy with 10%

They have soooo many natural treats in there plus a massive freezer of Raw food and it's only 10 mins away

wow that sounds great Sarah!!! I'd be thrilled to find one like him here. We have no holistic vets in this city, the closest is 3 hours away.

Yeah I think it's good. He's been v sweet and helpful too. Will see how I feel when I take the boys in

Lol Sarah you said he agreed to full dose pups but you meant half dose.

He's really good though, I was definitely impressed. You can tell her actually really cares about the animals and he respected our opinions and thoughts about veggies and vaccines. Whilst he was happy to let his OWN dogs never have vaccs, he didn't try and force that opinion on us. You can just trust that he isn't the type of vet to do anything just because he's after the money!

I said "what about lepto" and his reply as actually "thats the worst one of them all" which shocked me because, as Sarah said, we have quite a bad fox problem here.

Overall really impressed. Whilst his consultation fee is the same as my vet in London, Sarah's "old" vet is cheaper but I think that because of his natural approach to his work, he'll definitely be getting more of our business lol!

Also I do actually live in London lol it's a London borough lol

There spays were about the same as everywhere else which was nice to see and they do discounts on things.. He has been very helpful called us yesterday to answer some questions etc which was nice

But its not London, London And its DEFINITELy not London prices at Desmond's!

I don't see why he should charge full price, when technically for two pups its only one full dose lol Mind you, we got charged twice haha
