I have horror stories regarding this scheme.
The first is a client of mine who bought a chi from a member of this assured breeder scheme. She has had so much trouble with the dog, skin probs, teeth etc. The vets all say breeding problems are the cause. The breeder denied anything wrong as she is allegedly 'monitored' by this scheme and therefore CANNOT be producing ill dogs???
The second is a breeder i know of who is on this scheme and is also licensed with the council for breeding. She is clearly producing very inferior dogs with documented health problems. She has an extremely slick website and constantly sells pups on it for huge prices based on the validation from this KC scheme.
I aked a facebook friend who is also an assured breeder how she got on to it. She told me it was simply a case of registering and agreeing to the conditions. She said she has never been checked personally. ??
Goes to prove that word of mouth is always going to be better than any scheme run!

You pay £20 to join. Some get checked BUT I think that's more members of the committees etc They don't get checked and their are NO recommended health tests for the breed ATM..
Tbh I wouldn't join myself until I know all the byb and puppy farmers are off it!!

It seems like the BYB and puppy farmers use it the most just to try and prove they aren't what they really are!
