I'm worried about Roo she hasn't seemed herself the last couple of days. It started with some reverse sneezing (she really never does this) and then she threw up. She seemed ok after that, playful back to normal. But then she didn't seem to want to eat her food, she did eventually, but didn't seem as interested as usually. Now today she doesn't want to eat it at all and her stomach is making gurgling noises. Any thoughts? I'm worried now. She also wanted to eat grass outside. She does still seem in a good mood, happy etc. but she is a very good natured girl so I'm not sure if that means anything. She is not acting lethargic. Also, what is the normal temperature for Chi's? I'm going to take her temp, but not sure what it should be.

Her temp is 99.3. Is that too low? I looked on the net and the average seems to be between 100F and 102F.

I really hope it passes, but I guess I'm worried because it's been a few days now where she has seemed off. She definitely doesn't want to eat. I took her temp again and it was 99.9 which is 37 C. So at least her temp seems ok. If she is still feeling off tomorrow I'm going to take her to the vet. Thanks for the reply, Sarah. x

You can give her some pepto to settle her tummy -- probably half a chewable (probably shoved down her throat b'c they think it's yucky) and maybe try to get her to eat a bit of pumpkin? Sometimes they do just get icky tummies but I haven't really had them last more than 1-2 days.

Poor Roo!!! You can give 0.5-1ml of pepto per pound. So a 5 pound dog could take about a teaspoon every 6 hours. Be aware that it causes dark stools so don't be alarmed.
I hope the pepto makes her feel better.
You can also try slippery elm if you want to go a homeopathic route. Just open a capsule in a little bit of warm water and make a broth. It's sweetish so most dogs will lick it up. If not, you can squirt into the mouth. You could use in addition to pepto if you wanted. It coats and soothes the stomach/intestines.

We've had that happen here but only lasted no more than a couple days. I hope the Pepto helps her feel better though...it can be so stressful when they're acting so abnormal.
