Hey everyone! It's been a loooong time since I've been able to post--bought a new house, I'm pregnant and fighting all day/every day sickness--but I've missed everyone and still check in to read up a bit. I hope everyone & pups are doing well! Anyway, Lo has been on a glucosamine/chondroitin/msm capsule for just over 1 year now in addition to other supplements & prescriptions for her health. She gets one capsule per day, so 375mg of glucosamine, 300mg of chondroitin, and 75mg of msm. Earlier in the week, late at night, I noticed her holding up her back right leg when she came in from the evening bathroom trip. Didn't worry much about it, because I wanted to see how she would do after resting it. The next day and the day after that weren't any better. I have an appointment for her to see the vet Monday morning, but I'm just wondering what else I might be able to do for her. Any opinions? Would it be way too much to give her an extra half capsule at night? That would total about 562mg of glucosamine, and that just seems like a whole lot for a 4.5lb chi. I tried doing searches here and the other place, but didn't get a whole lot about how much mg people are actually giving. I really appreciate any advice or experiences anyone can share, Thank you so much!

Congrats on the pregnancy!!!! It's dead here Anyway... I was always under the impression that if they are showing a problem then give double the dose for 6 weeks and then take down to maintainence afterwards.. Make sure you're giving salmon oil too as is very good for joints.. Also vitamin C helps with absorption so may help giving that too??

Thanks so much for replying. & thank you on the pregnancy. I hadn't read that about doubling the glucosamine for 6 weeks, so I will definitely do that for her! She gets salmon oil most every day, but I don't have anything with the vitamin C in it. I'll get her some of that, too. The vet said that her cruciate ligament has been torn/ruptured... which is allowing her knee cap to move freely---grade 3/4 lp style... No bueno... But, she is still a happy little button so I'll give her those things to help keep her comfortable until we can see a specialist about surgery. We also wrapped her back legs to give her a bit more stability but she just hates it. Anyway, thanks again, good to hear from you.
