Caring for a Chihuahua questions.

My mom and I are buying a chihuahua together, we will be getting him around Christmas.
I already have a dog, she is a Border Collie/Black Lab cross and is 2 years old I love dogs and have wanted a small dog since forever! So my mom and I are buying him and I will get the tail end and she will get the head end so I will be caring for him but my mom will give him the attention so no worries about him not getting enough attention.

I have never had a Chi before and Monique my dog is the first dog I have ever had, she is a medium sized dog so I have no clue about small dogs. Other then the poodle my brother had a couple years ago.

What kind of food is best for chi's?
He will still be a puppy when we get him.
What size of collar will he need?
And I will need to buy a sweeter for him, how big will it need to be?

Is there anything else I should know before getting a Chihuahua??

For food you can go to www.dogfoodadvisor.com/ and look up the best brands. Since he will be a puppy when you get him,it is best to use a harness since a collar can cause trachea damage in very small dogs such as the chihuahua since they tend to pull the leash when you are walking them. As far as clothes go,you can buy him one or two outfits since chihuahuas like to be warm but he will quickly outgrow the outfits .
