Raw feeders - Is it bad that when I went to the farm supply store and saw they had baby ducks and chicks for sale that I looked in the clearance bin and saw the cutest little chicks on sale for $1.00 and I actually considered getting one for Brody for dinner? I must be a monster. LOL. They were absolutely the cutest things!!! I would have loved to given him a nice fresh one, but only if someone else had killed it (and I didn't see it). I just kept looking at their little wings and heads and beaks and feet and thinking.... "man! Brody would love to eat that!"

Was it alive??? If so yes that's BaD!!
And wasn't it Brody who didn't like the whole prey so you had to butcher it yourself?? Always remember he prefers it gourmet lol

LMAO... every time I see a rabbit that's been run over, I have a nanosecond where I wonder if I ought to stop and collect it for the cats. And no, I haven't ever done it, lol!

LOL Sarah and Elle!
Yes they were live little chicks that farmers can buy to grow up and get eggs from or whatever you do with chickens. Eat them when they get big enough? (Although how you could butcher an animal you raised, I will never know.) I am definitely not a farm girl.
I think that whole prey is SO AWESOME!!! Just wish that Brody felt the same. I would feel horrible if I got him a chick and then he didn't eat it. I'll pass but the thought did cross my mind.

Yep that is bad. If I was going to do that I'd take it home, put the chick & Chis in the yard & tell them "you want it? You go & get it!"

Mine always try to chase after birds on walks, I wonder if Brody might get more interested in the whole prey if he got to "hunt" it first? Although I suppose he might bring it to you for some parmesan and butter Tracy!

LOL Heather! You know, I'm afraid that one of these days he's going to catch a dove or a squirrel. He's fast. The squirrels are faster, but he's right on their tail. I'm scared he's going to corner one and then he's going to get bitten. UGH. I always try to give them a running head start when I let him out because he is out for blood when he sees one. The doves are so stupid. They sit still like they think he can't see them, and then fly away just as he gets to them. HA HA HA Katy!!! Yeah, he definitely likes parmesan and butter, or just a quick sear on the BBQ grill. Yeah, he's spoiled.

LOL Tracy! Betty-The-Garbage-Disposal would eat it up! I agree, Brody would prefer it lightly seared with a side of tripe. Thankssomuch. And I do the same darn thing, ALL THE TIME. Except mine is free rabbits on kijiji.
