Someone was just recently asking if you ever feel judged for owning a chi...can't remember who now, but yes I do! Why is it that people seem to love them or hate them..there doestn' seem to be an in between with this breed.
My SIL seems to think it's just fine to call my dogs "rat dogs" and really it gets on my nerves. She has a poodle and ya don't hear me saying nasty things about it though I'd never choose to own one.
I don't understand why people think it's ok to put down your dog. To me it's like putting down one of my kids..don't care for it at all.
Really though, chis seem to really take a beating from people. I just wonder if these people ever really knew a chi.

I don't know! But it sure is annoying! I feel embarassed we own so many and am already figuring out how to hide some when neighbors come over so they don't think I am a nut immediately! I do think mine can change opinions but I wish they didn't have to

I think it the whole Paris Hilton celebrity thing that went on! People see them as handbag dogs that yap and snap and it's awful!! My dogs are way more dog than a lot of the fat slobs I see milling around here it's horrid!! I generally get good comments other than some woman yesterday with her daughter who had a mix of some set dragging her down the street so lotus started her vocal assault and she turned her nose up at lotus like se was a bad smell and went urgh she's a bit vocal and I said yes well she's learning and was very scared I'd rather this than rap around your dog!! And her daughter was like yuck and I just went anyhoo lucky I didn't let rip

the faces on some people when i tell them what kind of dogs i have. mind you, some of these should never be allowed have a dog. i remember when bianca had her pups a boys mother out of the school wanted one, but told me she would have to get a kennel first for the back garden as it would live outside. you should have seen the look on my face. no she did not get one.!!!!

ussally when people see my two there amazed at how tiny and cute they are wich is great because others look at me like am trying to copy that paris hilton, if i carry them like accross the road i get stared at it really annoys me there great dogs there not my lil fashion accesorys there my dogs to me chihuahuas are the best breed they suit my lifestyle, my kids love them my other half didnt exactly love the breed he likes big dogs but with our lil girls he knows its safer to have chihuahuas as we hear loads of storys about dogs attacking kids anyways i think he secretly loves em lol as he has aggred to adopting two more next year wich will probarly be girls

I totally know what you mean, but I don't get too much negativity myself really. I'm in a very chi-centric area though. I do sometimes get people saying, wow they are really sweet and well behaved for chihuahua's. Chi's do seem to get a bad rap, unfortunately. I don't know! But it sure is annoying! I feel embarassed we own so many and am already figuring out how to hide some when neighbors come over so they don't think I am a nut immediately! I do think mine can change opinions but I wish they didn't have to LOL at hiding some of them. Mine have changed opinions, but I agree, I wish they didn't have to.
