Hi fellow Chi mummy and daddy's,
I am just looking for some advice or experiences that you have had with your chi's when moving house.
I will be moving next week into another house. Honey was 6 months old when i got her and she did not handle the move to me very well at all and got so stressed out she got very very sick and i had to take her to the vet.
I want to make this move stress free for her which will be hard because she gets stressed alot.
I am looking for some tips
Thanks

Have you tried giving her something for her stress?? One of mine is neurotic in new situations so I give her skullcap and valerian and it seems to keep er relaxed you can also try rescue remedy!!
Also try making it a positive experience give her a safe spot that she can go to when she's scared like in a crate or something

Do you take her out and about with you? I've moved 2x since I got Oakley and I was sooo worried she wouldn't handle it well, but she took it all in stride, I was really impressed. Expect a few potty accidents but for the most part I think your little one will do fine...cuz your stuff goes with you, she is familiar with it, it all smells safe and normal like home, rather than strange and new like your home did to her when you got her as a pup, ya know?

My own experiences moving I have never had any issues really. I just make sure to have all their things out immediately like their bed, blankets, toys etc to make them comfy right away and feel like it's home. You could also try giving her rescue remedy like Sarah suggested.

I will be moving on May 1st and i was planinng to put their crate out with all their toys etc... like suggested. I will prob give them a tasty treat when we arrive and make a big fun thing of it so hopefully they will see it as a good thing. The thing that i will be worrying about mostly is trying to teach them to go outside to potty rather than use pads. I think that will be a challenge since they are so used to pads now with me being in a flat. Of course they did outside here too, but mostly indoors. I have pads in my livingroom and bedroom. It will be very new to them, but i think they are pretty smart.
Good luck on your move. Hopefully none of our wee ones get stressed by it. x

Can you possibly take her to the new place before next week? Just to let her have a sniff around?
Also, the difference between her coming to you was that she was alone, her previous owner or breeder didn't come along too. This time, you'll be moving together so she'll have familiar things as well.

Remember to be confident, and relaxed about it all. She will pick up on your nerves if you are stressed out too:) Show her to way and whe will follow you. Home is really wherever you are Good luck to you and your chi baby though, I hate it when they are stressed too.
