Oh yeah, the key with ACV is to start small and work your way up to a maintenance dose. Some dogs/cats have small reactions, some have worse reactions. I think the amount of dogs that have bad reactions (itchies, etc) are very, very low. Our guys never had any reactions. Infact, (TMI time!) I used to soak my feet in water/ACV when I had toenail fungus (damn salon!) and Goo would always try and drink it. 
Kristi, try to bovine colostrum too! It's also good for knees, I read. At the very least, it won't harm them. And since you've got show/breeding dogs, it may be a real big help.
