How long have you been doing it for now Kristi? I'm intreagued. I would love Eva's coat to thicken up, and her white parts are constantly grubby, she loves lying down outside in the dirtiest, dustiest places possible. She is terified of baths and sulks and hides from me for the rest of the day- which means she will spend a third of all the time in a mood with me lol.
What dog conditioner do you use Kristi? I could only find the Johnsons one and it only comes in tiny bottles, I would need loads of them.
Also do you blowdry them or let them dry naturally?
I'm done bombarding you with questions now lol x

Hollie please don't do it to Eva it isn't going to work, it will just dry out her coat. The bit of it that will work is the massage. it will stimulate the hair follicles and sebatious gland and hair will come threw stronger, I did hair dressing at college and washing hair to much = dry brittle hair. So I can't see how it will be different for a dog.

His hair is softer and more "alive" feeling than it has been for a long time tho...one of the top handlers in the us, Gorge Alston recommends it in his book. I doubt he finished hundreds of dogs and specialed hundreds of dogs with dry damaged coats! He explains that dirty hair and fur can't grow for a number of reasons and it makes sense. It suffocates the skin and hair follicles. Just massaging isn't going to do as thorough of a job of getting out the "dead" stuff. I use the Pure Paws line -- ultra reconstructing shampoo followed by magic white shampoo followed by ultra creame conditioner followed by ultra shine spray and "The Stuff" and let him air dry. Once he's dry I put a touch of finishing spray on him and brush his coat out. It really depends on what you want to do -- you can get a sealer for the white bits of her coat tho to help keep dirt off her. I've never used one or needed one but I hear they work well. Just do what YOU are comfortable with and go from there

i would think brushing out the loose fur would help i do that most days atm - mine only get bathed for shows so at most every other week and my vet thinks this is too much, i have always been led to believe over bathing dried out their skin etc so i dont think i would like to bath every 3 days... what breed does Gorge Alston have i dont think ive ever had to bath mine cause they were dirty

George Alston handled/handles every type of breed you could imagine! He said he recommends it for any dog that is not smooth-coated. I really didn't think it would work but it seems to be...so I can't complain. I was sure his fur/skin would dry out and but it hasn't. So...who knows! But I'm glad he's finally getting some coat in, and I'm glad Leah is getting some too hahaha.

Its not drying out because your adding a load of products, but I'm sure over time it would do tho just like with human hair, and didn't you say that in brycos lines the coat comes in at 18months? Surly that's what is happening and the same with Leah as she's 7 months, pandas coat is coming in she's only ever had one bath since I have had her. I'm sure a bath every few days isn't going to change genetics.

I do think its just helping the coat come in, b'c I'm getting the dead stuff out...really I just think you get more dead out w/ water massaging than brushing. And also having the fur clean seems to help. He really does get filthy and w/ the marking now that he has the belly fur...ick. So who knows, I don't plan to do it forever but prob for another month or so to help move things along. I'm tired of waiting!

I do really hope it works for you, but I'm just a bit confused as I have always been told not to wash them to much lol
