Just wondering if anyone else gets asked the price they paid for their Chihuahua and if the questions makes you feel uncomfortable too?
I'm not just talking about dodgy looking people who look like they're going to snatch and run (although Sarah and I did get asked on Saturday by some travelers who were a bit TOO keen to know and also wanted to know why we weren't breeding them!), but also people like neighbours or even friends?
I have a neighbour and she really does like a good chat haha and she's one of those people who will tell you exactly the same thing she told you last week again because she's told it to so many people and can't remember if she's already told you! We were talking the other day and I had Kiki in my arms and she's already asked before but started asking again how much they were. I don't like being rude so I just say I'd rather not say, but even that makes me feel uncomfortable. Its not because I have anything to hide and I guess it partly is because people say "oooh how can you spend so much on a dog" but mostly its just because I think its rude to ask.
Perhaps I'm just the only one? I guess if someone asked because they were interested in getting a Chi I'd probably tell them the average price. Whats also weird is I probably wouldn't mind sharing if I was speaking to another Chi owner haha! Am I discriminating?
Sorry to babble on!

Errr yes I've had people ask me that. Drives me nuts! I usually tell them but then get "OMG how can you spend that much on a dog" so it's like Why bother? I probably did pay too much for my pets and many would probably say I spent too much on Lulu but our options are limited around here if you want to know where your Chi comes from! Saying that...I've never had a stranger ask me that. That would weird me out a bit.

Yeah it was really freaky! They kept going on about how we should've bred them and not had them done. I was like, ok bye now haha!
Its exactly like that with me, you can't please people either way. You tell them and they make you feel small, you don't tell them and they think you're being awkward!

I get asked all the time 'how much was she' and also 'if i'd breed her !!!!' I used to belong to a chihuahua and toy dog meet up group when i first got her and when i told the ladies who run the club how much i'd paid, they spent the whole time running my dog down, saying i'd been ripped off and what a mistake i'd made!!!!
I've since left that club!! but....That and numerous other prying questions means I normally reply with a vague answer like...well not that much really...and then rapidly change the subject if i can. People who i have told have either reacted with 'HOW MUCH!!!!!! OMG' or something sinister like 'must be worth a bit to you then!!' so now i don't bother with a straight answer...

Yes I hate it too! makes me feel very uncomfortable. I totally agree with yous, you tell them the price and there just like 'Wow can't believe you spent that much on a dog!' but they don't understand how precious these dogs are think that's why we feel comfortable telling other chi owners because they understand . I tend to just tell the nosey ones 'I'd rather not say' now because I can't be bothered with their reaction lol

Yeah, ppl ask me sometimes, I tell them tho, cuz I didn't spend very much on them. Now that I know who to buy from, and what to look for, I will be spending a hell of a lot more on my next Chi, it'll prolly be a loooong time from now though.
