Love your thread!!!! Everyone who wants to breed should read that and act accordingly. Especially as it seems everyone is breeding these days If you were a breeder, I would be happy to buy a pup from you

That's a great post Sarah! I wish I'd seen something like it when I was first looking for a puppy in February last year.
I was wondering if you might be able to add any information you might have, for newbies to studding. I know there can be problems during mating, so knowledge and experience is important, but how on earth does a person become an experienced stud handler? At some point, just as with breeding bitches, every one must have to go through the newbie phase at dealing with studding. If you have a dog with excellent lines, and you've done your research and found a particular bitch who would complement his lines, but you don't actually have any experience, how would you go about it?
And while I know showing is a good way to prove the quality of a dog, is it absolutely essential that studs are shown?

We'll have to get Louise involved on this one as I believe Perry has got his leg over a few times I believe that if you have a mentor, going and watching would be the best way to learn, lol even though its the dog thats performing lol. As far as exhibiting your stud, I don't believe its absolutely essential but the way I think many people look at it is, a lot of us will think our dogs are perfect because they are our babies. When you have shown your dog, you get an objective view. I've seen so many poorly bred dogs advertised at stud I think maybe a person wanting to breed their bitch would also be more inclined to go for a dog that has done well...?

It was good to see Tiara's next potential partner getting his PGD class today - lovely movement. x

Lol notches on the bed post hahaha
I personally wouldn't use a stud dog that hadn't been shown I suppose 'pet breeders' or the bad guys don't really care as long as they're the right colour and small (urgh) there's a whole host to stud handling I'll find some info and I'm sure Louise will help out! It's not as easy as it lookslol
