Lucy & Sarah... lol... I should have thought of Louise and Perry, haha! And shouldn't that be notches on his crate post? ;-) And yes, you are right about thinking our own Chis are perfect, haha! It's very hard to be objective about our little darlings, isn't it? Thinking about it, I agree that most sensible ppl would want to know that the stud is considered suitable for studding, and of course, ribbons are the only way to prove a dog has any street cred, aren't they, lol!

Oooo I missed all of this! I will have to think of a little write up on handling a stud dog. Pauline are you still going to use Hero/Reg? (I forgot what one) or is that out the window now?

I ETA: In the states, the recommended health tests for the Chihuahua are... 1)OFA Patellas 2)Cardiac 3)CERF (eyes). The first two can be performed by licensed vets, the final one must be done by a specialist. And what a pity these tests aren't done in the UK, would save a LOT of sufferring to the dogs and heartache for the owners ... and it's not just back yard breeders dogs who are having isuues unfortunately

The kc don't recommend any tests for chis as yet.
Anyone who breeds a dog with issues I would term as a BYB.

I agree any breeder who continues to breed when they know there are issues in the line are dreadful, as are the people who buy and breed from their pups, or allow them to use their stud dogs. Heads and sand come to mind

Idk if they will the breed is pretty healthy tbh. If it wasn't for pet breeders with no brains and idiots after money the breed would be even healthier IMO
